For close to twenty-five years, Anthony M. Gruppuso has practiced as a business litigator in both state and federal courts. His clientele is diverse and includes accounting firms, trustees, medical practices, limited liability company members, manufacturers, distributors, and high net worth individuals.

With extensive experience in both large law firms and his own private practice, Anthony has developed a broad skill set through handling complicated legal matters. He has represented a wide range of clients in high-profile and high-stakes cases, showcasing his versatility and depth of expertise.
- Representing the SIPA trustee for the estate of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC in an adversary proceeding to avoid fraudulent transfers and recover approximately $825 million from two foreign feeder funds.
- Representing the trustee for the chapter 11 estates of numerous real estate entities utilized by insiders to perpetrate a billion-dollar Ponzi scheme founded on the sale of tenant-in-common investments.
- Representing a minority member of a Delaware limited liability company in prosecuting claims for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract against the company’s controlling members for repurchasing the client’s membership interest.
- Representing a minority member of a Kentucky limited liability company in prosecuting claims for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract against the company’s majority member for terminating the client’s membership interest.
- Defending three New York City restaurant owners against state and federal wage-and-hour and class-action claims brought by a former employee.
- Defending a high-ranking aide to the former Governor of the State of New York against employment discrimination and sexual harassment claims brought by a former staff member.
- Defending the sole shareholder of the distributor of an ephedra-based dietary supplement against claims for fraudulent transfer and consumer fraud seeking more than $100 million in damages.
- Defending a Big Four accounting firm against a hospital’s claims that the client committed fraud, malpractice, and civil RICO in assisting in the preparation of Medicaid cost reports.
- Representing one of New Jersey’s largest real estate developers in arbitration proceedings at which ownership of more than 100 commercial and residential properties were at issue.
- Representing a neurosurgical and orthopedic medical practice in prosecuting claims for breach of restrictive covenant, unfair competition, and violation of New Jersey’s computer offense law against two former employees.
- Defending an international accounting firm against a taxpayer’s claims that the firm committed fraud and malpractice in the preparation of federal tax returns.
Outside of his legal practice, Anthony has been actively involved in community and civic affairs. He played a pivotal role as a founding trustee and former president of The Baseball Club of Chatham, N.J., Inc., a non-profit organization responsible for organizing youth and travel
baseball programs for around 800 children in Chatham, New Jersey. Additionally, Anthony has also dedicated his time to pro bono work, particularly assisting veterans with disability benefit claims before the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in Washington, D.C.
